Raised in a single-parent household and living in poverty in Petersburg, VA, Dr. Shawnrell Blackwell—known as Dr. B—didn’t grow up with an expansive vocabulary, but she discovered the power of words and the thirst for knowledge early on. She survived unimaginable trauma and still carved a path to success—her definition: peace with God and peace with herself. Now a multi-hyphenate force—author, artist, educator, and advocate—Dr. B uses her journey to empower others to heal, rise, and show up boldly.
